The Khmer Rouge is the communist party of Cambodia, ruled by Pol Pot from'75 to'79. It is the worst nightmare that the world has ever seen.

The Khmer Rouge had thousands of followers and an insurgency had begun against the government in the year'70. With the aid of the Viet Cong troops and the North Vietnamese, the Khmer Rouge gained control over a large part of Cambodia. It grew very popular in a short time and increased from 3,000 to 30,000 in strength in just three years, from'70 to'73, sending back the Viet Cong troops and Vietnamese whose help was no longer needed.

Finally, led by Pol Pot, the Khmer Rouge overthrew the Cambodian government in'75, after which the "Democratic Kampuchea" was established. Literally overnight, the new governance took cruel and drastic measures. Entire cities were evacuated. Property was abolished. Factories were closed. Schools were shut down. Money did not hold any value. Hundreds of thousands of taxi drivers, cooks, factory workers, clerks and everyone else became farmers suddenly. They even assassinated skilled workers and intellectuals, and many others died due to starvation. Records show that at least 2 million people died. Cambodia was reduced to nothing but a nation of slaves.

In'79, because of a strained relationship, the Vietnamese troops invaded and helped the local factions in getting rid of the Khmer Rouge government. Unfazed by this, the Khmer Rouge continued its activities near the Thai border, with its 30,000 strong army. The United Nations recognized it as the official government of Cambodia.

This government formed a coalition in'82, with Norodom Sihanouk, the former premier and the non-Communist leader, Son Sann. Pol Pot gave up his leadership for Khieu Samphan, but it was said to Pol Pot who continued to call the shots. On the request of the different factions in Cambodia, who signed a treaty, the United Nations assumed administration of the government in'91 and help elections in'92. Around that time, the Khmer Rouge withdrew itself from the peace process did not accept the results of the elections which led to the formation of a coalition government in Cambodia, and began fighting again.

Internal disputes led the Khmer Rouge to disintegrate in'97, leading to the imprisonment of Pol Pot. He died soon after in'98, bringing to a close what was the worst reign of modern times. By'99, all the other members of the Khmer Rouge were defected, captured or surrendered.

The extent of the mass assassinations in Cambodia was not known to the world until'79, when Vietnam overthrew the Khmer Rouge. It was only then that the actual atrocities came to light.

A chill runs down the spine of every Cambodian when they think back on the Khmer Rouge. It shocked the world with the atrocities that were considered to be the worst ever the world had to face. The wounds of the rule remain raw even today, as they changed the lives of the population of Cambodia, like nothing else has before.

That was an astral projection.

The key to success in astral projection is to believe you can do it. Any doubts or fears you have will only hold you back and make it harder for you to astral project.

By now your mind and body are ready for sleep, you need to stay alert. To do this many practitioners recommend that you come up with a line that you can repeat to yourself such as I fly, I fly, I fly, you decide what you are going to say as there isnt a right or wrong thing.

An inactive mind gets bored easily; you may find yourself drifting into some random thoughts. Do not allow this to happen. If this does happen then you will need to start over. You need to keep repeating the phrase you select to keep your mind from wandering.

Now, there are a couple of methods that can be employed to reach altered consciousness. You can use your repetitive statement to reach the altered state of consciousness. You can also use the body of light method, which is where you envision a body of light that you are going to see yourself transform into.

There are three feelings you are going to experience that will help you know that your astral body is going. First you are going to feel as though you are moving, then you are going to see lights and colors in front of your eyes (remember that your eyes are closed) this is simply the astral body moving into the astral world. Finally, you will hear voices that are going to be telling you to either stop what you are doing or encouraging you to continue. For example, a tree that is facing upside down or a fossilized oyster on top of a mountain all tell us that massive amounts of water, or a flood has redeposited these objects in these unusual places.

Sedimentary rock makes up most of the earth's surface. The remaining surface is volcanic igneous and metamorphic rock. The trees that were buried in different angles in the stone, and the oysters on a mountain top tell scientists this is the result of a marine cataclysm. And it is not just in one place or one country. It is found all over the world.

The fossils found include shellfish, marine invertebrates, algae and plants. There are insects, land vertebrates and dinosaur bones as well. One may also recall a time when you have gone hiking or camping and found fossils of marine life on top of a mountain. These fossils are remnants of what many call, The Great Flood or the Flood of the Bible.

Scientist's and laymen alike have all witnessed signs of the Flood of the Bible. Through the study of fossils we learn more and more of the universal truth's of the earth.

Crest Whitestrips are great teeth whitening products. They all work the same way, and they come in many different forms. The strips contain hydrogen peroxide, which is the very effective bleaching agent found in many teeth whitening products.

It used to be that teeth whitening products contained abrasive materials, which were supposed to act like sandpaper, grinding away discoloring particles off of the teeth. The idea was to remove any particles that left dark colors on the teeth, restoring them to their natural, white color. However, it was soon found out that a lot of people have teeth that are not naturally white. Some people have teeth that are naturally very yellow, so a new solution was needed.

Hydrogen peroxide came along to solve this problem. This was a whole new approach to teeth whitening. Instead of scrubbing the teeth, hydrogen peroxide bleached them; instead of removing the discoloring particles, it stained them white. This was found to be much more effective than the traditional whiteners. Now, every teeth whitening product except whitening toothpaste contains hydrogen peroxide.

Whitestrips are made with an adhesive material which is designed to stick to the teeth. It will last for at least the whole thirty minutes of treatment in all the products except the Daily Whitening Multicare and the Daily Whitening Multicare with Tartar Control products, which will last at least the whole five minutes of treatment.

Whitestrips can be bought over-the-counter or not-over-the-counter in many varieties and strengths, with hydrogen peroxide content of anywhere from six to fourteen percent. For teeth whitening products, they work exceptionally well.

Whitestrips, however, are not without their flaws. Because they are a strip, they cannot get in between the teeth. Sometimes, this causes a "zebra" effect on the teeth. Additionally, the adhesive material they are made with is not strong, and the strips can easily slide off the teeth, which prohibits users from eating, smoking, or drinking while wearing them. Insurers and infertile couples always seem to be battling over infertility costs. Until infertile couples took on the roles of advocates, few, if any, insurers automatically paid for infertility treatment. In the last several years, however, infertile couples have been successfully lobbying state legislature to pass laws requiring insurers to cover their medical bills.

As of April 2000. Twelve states have enacted infertility insurance legislation: Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Montana, New York, Ohio, Rhode island, and Texas. Specific information about legislation for each of these twelve states can be found at the Web site of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (www.asrm.org).

If you live in any of these twelve states, you probably have a better chance of having some of the costs reimbursed than if you live elsewhere. But if you do not meet all the requirements set forth under the law (i.e. length of time you've been trying to have a baby, medical condition, or use of your own gametes), the law may work against you. On the other hand, insurance may in fact cover your diagnosis and treatment, even if you live in one of the other thirty-eight states.

Dance History Of The Mambo

Throughout history, many forms of music have been called The Devils Music. In the 1950s many people burned rock and roll records (not a smart thing to do considering the poisonous fumes that are released by burning plastic). Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis and Chuck Berry all went up in flames. Of course that didnt hurt their careers any, as the kids of that time just bought more records. The Mambo, however, has been called The Devils Dance (Diabolo), and the more extreme forms can be exhausting to perform.

The Mambo arose from a blend of African rhythms and Cuban music. West African slaves from the Congo and Yoruba were transported to the Caribbean. Bringing their two hundred gods with them, the people would call out to them in music, song and dance. Mambo is translated as "conversation with the gods" and in Haiti, Mambo is a voodoo priestess who protects the village, drives away demons, heals and provides wisdom and guidance.

The Mambo drum rhythms were incorporated into the Cuban Congos music. Mixed with a number of other styles of foreign music, the new blend was then combined with Western Jazz in the Havana casinos where Latin orchestras blared hot Cuban music. Havana was the place to be in the 1950s if you were an American with the money for travel. Celebrities or all kinds joined the Times Square and East Coast tourists who flocked to Cuba to get away from it all. As more and more Americans were exposed to the Latin beats and Cuban music, more Cuban orchestras and dancers found opportunities in America. Along with Cuban cigars, dances like the Mambo made their way to the United States to the delight of the mainlanders. The Mambo blend of American Jazz, African beat and Cuban Rumba rhythm caught on like wildfire. Although the early version presented in America was rather docile compared to its origins, the Mambo is a dance that can be quite sensual and erotic in its performance. You can take it as far as you want to go. Because of the African influence, the dance is guided by the off beat, unlike traditional Western dances which follow the downbeat. This different movement structure was new to Americans who found the novelty both intriguing and compelling. The Mambo can be danced as a Single Mambo, Double Mambo or Triple Mambo, depending upon the basic steps. It was the Triple Mambo with its five steps per measure that later diverged into the Cha Cha.

The Salsa also derived from the Mambo. The story goes that as bands were playing, people would call out, Salsa! Salsa! or Spice it up! As a result, the Salsa is a Mambo on steroids. It is faster with a more dramatic flair.

Mambo came into its own as a specific musical genre in the 1950s thanks to Perez Prado, who brought the Mambo to New York, but toned it down to accommodate the Manhattan audience. Even in its milder form, however, the Mambo caught on and continues to this day. Both Perry Como and Nat King Cole agree, Poppa loves Mambo! Mamma loves Mambo!

He was spreading hits while surrendering two earned runs. The Tribe was trailing 2-1 when the rain break started. The Tribe did their damage subsequent to the delay during the 6th inning. Peralta struck out, Valbuena singled, and LaPorta singled behind Valbuena to put Indians on first and second.

LaPorta had four hits in four at bats with a double to raise his average to 0.296. Marte batted next and belted the Tribe to a win.

With two strikes on him, Marte did the good task of running the count. He fouled one off and then saw two balls before slapping one over the right field corner for a triple.

To me, Andy Marte is a puzzle. This season is either a one-off or it is all starting to make sense for the young player who is still in his younger seasons for a baseball player.

Is he finally starting to acquire it, or is it real and downright a sham? I won't feign to be a bright enough baseball man as far as analyzing ability to tell the Indians what they should do. Still, I am consistently prone to a bettor's belief of basically any scenario.

My gambler's impulse regarding Travis Hafner was that it was a great idea to lock that man up. How did I perform on that bet? However, each of these wagers on skill exists in a vacuum. By that I indicate, you can't possibly assume anything about gambling on Marte since we struck out so generously on Hafner.

Karma is an exciting way of life to ponder about, but in the end it only shows up when you suppose you notice it and when you are envisioning self-fulfilling prophecies. I deduce at this period of the game, noting how much energy Marte has cost the Indians by now, I would seek to deal this slacking stock while it has a short-lived high point.

Certainly, he may go on to his next team to develop into a prolific player, but you need to expect whatever you pull back in exchange is still more prolific.

The real question for most of us is how to find the time to exercise regularly and consistently. All we have is 24 hours each day to get done all the things we need to get done. Exercising often takes a back seat to work, shopping, cooking, cleaning, getting the kids ready for school and ready for bed, and all the other million-and-one little details that demand our attention every day.

Most of us have the motivation to exercise - we want to do it and we know it's important and good for us.3 But when to fit it in? A few hardy souls bite the bullet and get up at 5:00AM - making more time in the day by getting less sleep. Others exercise at the end of a long day, but sometimes that's stressful and counterproductive. However they do it, many people make real efforts to exercise a few times each week.

Most likely, over time, our good intentions get stymied by our daily concerns. Deadlines and scheduling take precedence and the most easy-to-jettison item on our to-do list - exercise - gets lost in the process. And sooner rather than later we're back to not exercising at all. Public health experts and policy makers have been struggling, too, with this apparent no-win situation. The outcome is brand-new recommendations relating to short bursts of activity during the day. These three- to five-minute bursts have been studied and shown to provide real health benefits to real people under real-world circumstances.

Instead of taking coffee breaks at work, people are beginning to take activity breaks. History Of The Paso Doble Dance

Who says the French cant be Spanish? Witness the Paso Doble. Meaning double step in Spanish, this ballroom dance for couples is set to Spanish march music that is reminiscent of a bullfight in the heart of Spain. It is the same style of music that is played when a bullfighter enters the ring to salute the audience before the fight, and again at the end of the fight, just before the kill. This assumes, of course, that the bull doesnt win the fight.

The dance is lively and dramatic, with long sweeping steps and aggressive movements. It is a dance of preparation for battle and triumph in combat, just like the bullfights that inspired it. The male represents the matador, boldly and proudly entering the ring. The female represents the matadors cape, which he whips around with graceful elegance. The female also takes on the role of the bull or an adoring senorita dancing Flamenco. The tempo is brisk and measured but not fast, being about one beat per second. What truly makes this dance is the energy one puts into it and the level of dancing skill.

The Paso Doble as we know it today was invented in Southern France, and Pierre Lavelle made it popular with the upper crust of Paris in the 1930s. The close proximity to Spain was undoubtedly its inspiration. Although the French copied the Spanish music and movements, they named the steps in French. The Sur Place and Huit, for example. The dance is an elaborate pantomime of a bullfight, where the matador dances proudly around, confronts his enemy (the bull) and eventually emerges victorious. Movements by the male are proud and quick, in strong defiance, while the hand and arm gestures (particularly of the female) are often graceful and fluid.

This is not a dance for a crowded dance floor, as it necessarily takes up a lot of room. It is a dance to be watched and enjoyed, usually at exhibitions, performances or competitions. Youre not likely to find a knowledgeable partner standing by the wall at your local disco. It is a performance dance.

Experienced dancers find the Paso Doble challenging but extremely rewarding. Being theatrical in nature, it requires a great deal of showmanship, if not acting ability. Very similar to the Flamenco, it requires a haughty and confident attitude for the male.

The United States first began taking notice of the dance in the 1930s, however it has never really caught on in the English-speaking countries because it is not a dance you can do without a lot of experience. For this reason, it is a great opportunity for seasoned dancers to learn something novel that will be received well by audiences.

A dynamic dance that requires extensive professional training, the Paso Doble is not a dance for the uninitiated. If you are a strong performer, however, few dances are as impressive or stylistic. If the conqueror is in your blood, step up to the challenge. Ole! N'est-ce pas?

A sport that had faded into the lowest level of obscurity had been rediscovered and embraced by an eclectic group of young women.
